My name is Bradford Bentz. I have been a practicing equine veterinarian for over 30 years. Ive engaged in nearly every facet of my profession trying to find a niche for me that allows me to support my family the way I want to, AND to still live a fulfilling life for myself. Over the years, however, the things I have permitted myself to consider for my own fulfillment I have allowed to be gradually removed from my expectations for myself. I fell into the well understood mindset among fathers and family men like myself that you can have financial success and your work OR you can have success as a father and in your relationships, but not both. In the process of it all, any expectation of self fulfillment is completely abandoned. Sound familiar? My profession is not unique. Many of us have been overtaken and indeed consumed by our need to provide for our families, and we feel the conflicting desire of trying to nurture and support our children, and maintain a healthy relationship with the spouse. Ive always opted for the need to support the family at the expense of my own life and my fulfillment by working endlessly, never saying no to anyone and overextending myself beyond reason- leaving absolutely no time to pursue anything I would really like to do. I am creating an online business in order to replace my income and allow me the time I need to love and support my family as I expect of myself, while also allowing me the freedom to engage in the things I wish to pursue and that I have allowed to get away from me.
